Jonathan Lemieux Named Ultramar Player of the Week

Boucherville, QC - This week's Ultramar Player of Week is Val d'Or Foreurs goaltender Jonathan Lemieux. In a pair of starts, the 17-year-old from St-Hyacinthe, Quebec went 1-0-0-1 with a 1.44 GAA and .963% save percentage as the Foreurs made a push up the standings.

On Wednesday night in Charlottetown, Lemieux made 40 saves, including 16 in the third period, allowing the Foreurs to rally from a 2-0 first period deficit to earn a point against the Islanders. Though Val d'Or would fall 3-2 in a shootout, Lemieux was nonetheless named the game's first star.

On Friday night in Rimouski, the second-year netminder once again earned first star accolades after turning aside 37 shots in a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over the Oceanic. Lemieux earned his 17th win of the season while the Foreurs made it three straight games with at least one point earned. They would stretch that streak to four with a shootout loss to Rimouski on Saturday night, propelling them past both Gatineau and Blainville-Boisbriand in the West Division standings.

Lemieux's record entering the final week of regular season action stands at 17-16-1-2. A third-round selection of the Foreurs in the 2017 QMJHL Draft, he sports a 3.68 GAA and .902 save percentage. Ranked 26th among North American goaltenders for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Lemieux was also named a Scholastic Player of the Month in the "Q" in December, 2018.
