Jonas Derks named Overall and Offensive Player of the Week

Arizona Sting forward Jonas Derks led this week's NLL award winners by taking home both Offensive and Overall Player of the Week awards. His four goal, four assist performance led Arizona to a 14-13 overtime win over the Toronto Rock, in a rematch of last season's championship game. The eight-point performance was a key factor in the road win for Arizona, and landed Derks, now in his eighth pro season, the first player of the week honors of his career.

Colorado Mammoth goaltender Chris Levis has been named Defensive Player of the Week for his superb performance in a 12-11 win over the Rochester Knighthawks. Levis, making his first game appearance since the 2002 season, entered Saturday's game with Colorado trailing 6-2 early in the 2nd quarter. Levis held Rochester to four goals over the game's final 42 minutes as the Mammoth rallied for their first win of the season.

San Jose Stealth forward Jeff Zywicki rounds out the week's award winners by earning Rookie of the Week honors. In his first NLL game, Zywicki scored three goals including the game winner in overtime for a 10-9 road win over Edmonton.

Week #2 Award Winners

OVERALL & OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jonas Derks (Arizona) - (4g, 4a, 8pts, 4 lb) scored four goals and added four assists for a total of eight points and collected four loose balls in a 14-13 OT win in Toronto on Saturday; named game's MVP.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Chris Levis (Colorado) - (28 saves, 4GA, 1lb) Entered the game with Colorado trailing 6-2 early in the 2nd Quarter. Levis recorded 28 saves and only allowed 4 goals through nearly three quarters of play in a 12-11 win over Rochester. Levis also collected one loose ball. Note: Rochester scored on an empty net goal just before halftime while Levis was on the bench for an extra attacker. Levis allowed 4, Nash allowed 6, plus one emty net goal for 11 Rochester goals in the game.

ROOKIE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jeff Zywicki (San Jose) - (3g, GWG, 3pts, 3lb) scored three goals, including the game winning goal and collected three loose balls in an 10-9 OT win over Edmonton.

The Weekly Player Awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers & Head Coaches of the league's eleven member clubs.
