Johnstown Chiefs To Host Second-Annual School Kids' Day Game
August 13, 2008 - ECHL (ECHL)
Johnstown Chiefs News Release
Johnstown, Pa. - On Wednesday, November 12 the Cambria County War Memorial Arena will be doing double-duty. According to schedule, it will host the Chiefs' game against the Cincinnati Cyclones, but it will also serve as one giant classroom. That is because the Chiefs will hold their second-annual Hockey in Education Day Game with a special 10:35 a.m. start time.
The Chiefs are inviting teachers throughout the region to bring their classes out to the game for a unique field trip that is both educational and tons of fun! When the kids arrive at the arena, they will receive a workbook that will show them how math, science, physical fitness, history, and even geography play an important role in professional hockey. Best of all, the students will get to see the ideas behind the activities in the workbook play out right in front of their eyes while the Chiefs battle against the defending ECHL champion Cyclones.
As if the Hockey in Education Day Game wasn't already a great enough event, it is made even better because it is so affordable. All tickets for school groups of 15 or more can be had for just $6.00 each!
After a great debut last season against the South Carolina Stingrays, the Chiefs are extremely excited to offer the Hockey in Education Day Game again.
"Last year's game had schools coming in from as far away as Greensburg and Bedford, as well as the Johnstown area. That shows that a lot of people liked what we had to offer, and they will all be happy to know that we're coming back this year with an even better Hockey in Education Day Game. The kids, and their teachers, are going to love it," according to Chiefs director of ticketing and sponsorship Eric Wolfgang.
