Springfield Falcons News Release
Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons announced on Sunday that center Ryan Johansen and defenseman Dalton Prout have been assigned to the club by its NHL affiliate, the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Johansen posted 12 points (5g-7a) in 40 games with the Blue Jackets and collected 33 points (17g-16a) in 40 contests with the Falcons during the 2012-13 regular season. A 20-year-old from Vancouver, British Columbia, Johansen netted 21 points (9g-12a) in 67 games with the Blue Jackets during his rookie season of 2011-12. He was selected by Columbus in the first round (fourth overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Prout led the Blue Jackets in 2012-13 with a +15 rating, checking in third among all NHL rookies in that category. He scored his first-career NHL goal with the Blue Jackets on Apr. 18 in Los Angeles and accumulated seven points (1g-6a) in 28 appearances with Columbus after being recalled from Springfield on Mar. 1. Prout, 23, picked up nine points (1g-8a) in 40 games with the Falcons this season. He notched 13 points (4g-9a) in 62 outings with Springfield during his first-pro campaign of 2011-12 while also making his NHL debut over five games with the Blue Jackets. Prout, from LaSalle, Ontario, was chosen in the sixth round (154th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Springfield, which won Game 1 of its Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series over Manchester on Saturday in overtime, plays Game 2 this afternoon at the MassMutual Center.
