Rochester Knighthawks News Release
Rochester Knighthawks forward Joe Walters will get ready for the holidays by giving back to his hometown. Walters and his teammates will offer a Free Lacrosse Clinic in exchange for a new or gently used winter coat to benefit the Rochester City School District.
"I am very pleased to offer this opportunity to our lacrosse community, as well as helping those in need during the holiday season," said Walters.
"We are extremely grateful to Joe Walters and his teammates for their generosity," said Rochester City School Superintendent Dr. Bolgen Vargas. "Providing a warm coat to our students in the winter months will certainly help us meet our children's fundamental needs, and it's this kind of community support that makes that possible. Thank you to the Rochester Knighthawks for thinking of our students."
The clinic will take place on Friday, December 6th from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Total Sports Experience in Gates. It is open to boys and girls of all ages and skill levels. To register, please access the attached form, https://www.formstack.com/forms/knighthawks-coat_drive .
The Coat Drive will continue on Saturday, December 7th when the Knighthawks host the Minnesota Swarm at 8:00 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The team will collect coats at the Knightingales table in the upper atrium lobby during their home preseason game. In return, fans will receive a coupon for a discounted ticket to the Knighthawks' home opener on Saturday, December 28th.
"Joe came up with this idea and we are very happy to support this great event for the Rochester community," said Knighthawks President Lewis Staats. "Joe is very active in the community on behalf of the Knighthawks and the idea of doing a lacrosse clinic, with registration being a coat to give to those in need, is very fitting for the holiday season.
"We are also excited about extending the Coat Drive to be part of our exhibition game against Minnesota to give our fans a chance to support this very worthwhile cause as well," added Staats.
Tickets for the December 7th preseason game are free and can be ordered by using the Formstack link, http://www.formstack.com/forms/knighthawks-preseason. As an added benefit, fans will have a chance to win prizes, which will be raffled off throughout the game.
