Dayton Bulldogs News Release

Dayton, Ohio— Another day, another Buckeye. The Dayton Warbirds continue to load up on former Ohio State players, this time landing former Buckeye great, Joe Cooper. Cooper, a 6-foot, 220 pound linebacker, also played in the NFL, suiting up for the New York Jets and St. Louis Rams.

“We are pleased to add Joe to our roster, but we have one small problem. We cannot bring him to Dayton until we help him land a different job,” said Jeffrey A. Jodway, President and General Manager. “It is difficult for these guys to survive on $200 a game and it is up to us to help these young men find full-time employment while they continue their football careers,” added Jodway.

The Warbirds, an expansion team in the United Indoor Football Association (UIF), kick off their inaugural season next Thursday, March 17th against the Peoria Rough Riders. The team has been in training camp for just over a week and the players are ready to go. Kick-off is at 7:35 at the Nutter Center.
