
Jim Rice to be Honored at Blazers Game

BOSTON (February 24, 2009) - RCN Corporation (NASDAQ: RCNI), a leading provider of all-digital and high definition video, high-speed internet, and premium voice services to residential and small-medium business customers, as well as high-capacity transport services to carrier and large enterprise customers, announced today that it will celebrate newly elected Baseball Hall of Famer, Jim Rice, at the Boston Blazers home game against the San Jose Stealth on Saturday, February 28th at 7:30 pm at the TD Banknorth Garden. During halftime, RCN will present the Boston Citywide Little League with a donation in Rice's honor for its upcoming inaugural summer season.

The Blazers halftime festivities will also feature a competition in which a limited number of fans will stand on the turf and throw an RCN ball closest to the Blazers center logo. The fan whose ball lands closest to the Blazer logo will be the winner and have an opportunity along with their friends to catch the second half of the exciting professional indoor lacrosse action from the VIP owners' suite with the Hall of Famer.
The first 1,500 Blazers fans attending the upcoming game against the San Jose Stealth will be eligible for the competition by obtaining a special RCN ball prior to entering the TD Banknorth Garden.

The Boston Citywide Little League will begin this summer and play two to three games per week during an eight-week period from the end of June through August. The new league aims to provide 9 - 11 year olds with additional playing time after the regular season ends. . The program will be run by Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF,) the City of Boston's largest youth and human service agency.
