Jiannetti powers 'Cats over Vipers, 5-4

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Cracker-Cats rebounded from last night's one run loss with a dramatic ninth inning for the 5-4 victory tonight in front of 569 fans at Telus Field.

Jorge DePaula got the start for the ‘Cats. He went 6.1 innings, with 4 strikeouts.

The Cats got an early start, as Jose Morban hit a fielder's choice off of Nate Melek to bring home Marcus Nettles and the 1-0 lead.

In the second, Edmonton added to their lead as Jose Morban doubled into right field to score two more runs cashing in Juan Infante and Nettles.

Robert Coello came into the game in the seventh. He went 1.2 innings, not allowing a run and striking out one in the process.

Joel Schmall closed the game for the ‘Cats, and picked up his second victory of the season.

In the bottom to the ninth, Jose Morban singled to center field, and set the stage for Joe Jiannetti who doubled into right center to give the Cracker-Cats a 5-4 victory.

The two teams will face off tomorrow afternoon for the final game before the playoffs begin on Tuesday, September 2nd. Game time is 1:35pm.
