Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release

Friday Night Six days after sweeping the best team in the Central, the Jets laid an egg in the first period only to be downed 6-2 at Bismarck.

It was start that would haunt the team for the entire game. Bismarck came out aggressive but not flashy and scoring off a rebound was Tobias Falk. Just like that it was 1-0 Bobcats. After struggling to gain control of the puck in the offensive zone, the Jets never had the urgency for the first 20 minutes. The Bobcats would snap off another rebound goal from Kevin Harris and it was 2-0, Bismarck. That wouldn't be the end of the Bobcats on slough as Will Aide tipped one home out in front as it got even uglier at 3-0. The Jets would be out shot 15-5 in the first period and it showed. The second period would start just as sluggish and the Bobcats came to play once again as tender Jake Kremer stayed on his rocker making saves. Though the Jets got quality chances to score any rebound left out was cleared up and out of the zone. Jets' goalie Elliot Okland came out to play a shot from the top of the right circle by Cody Keefer and he was beaten top shelf for a soft goal prompting his early exit. Adam Buegler came off the bench to take the duties in net for the remainder of the game. He hadn't played in a NAHL game before and as Adam took over he shook off a shaky first few shots. The second period would to closure with the Jets down and almost out 4-0. The shot total was 22-17 in favor of the Cats.

It was eventually the start of the third and final period of the night for the Jets as they came out and finally got on the board. It would be another pin point goal for Jordy Trottier as he slipped it up and under Kremer's right arm to make it 5-1. Mark Johnson would set up his second assist of the night to Andrew Harrison to cut the deficit 5-2. After Buegler was pulled for the extra attacker, it was a slow roller down ice off the stick of John Clark to seal the deal 6-2, Bismarck.

Overall, the Jets silenced their own fate in the first period by coming out flat, slow and out of sync and never recovered from a 3-0 hole. The game was fast due to only 11 total penalties as the Bobcats went 1-2 and the Jets 0-2 on the man advantage. After 2 hours and 10 minutes were settled the Jets would end up out shooting the Bobcats 36-32 but that wasn't the difference. Johnson dished out two dimes as he continued to be the defensive catalyst. The Jets head back to Bismarck on the 14th for another tangle in the den hoping for a much better result at the VFW for a 7:05pm face-off.

Now or Never In weekend where only game was played by the Jets they had to sit back and let nature take its coarse as Bismarck lost, Springfield won a few, Southern MN got clipped and Alexandria continued their hold of the final playoff position.

Home Sweet Home The Jets finally won at home for the first time since early November against Marquette. Not only was the home winless streak snapped but so was the winless streak against the Outlaws which had reached eight games. The Jets return home to try and break another drought against Bismarck on the 15th and 16th of February.

Hockey 101 That has been the question as of late and it has been addressed day after day. Making the simple plays and keeping the game simple will win games for the Jets but as soon they try to make the extra cute pass or effort it crumbled in front of them. It was the sense of urgency that they brought against North Iowa that proved to be the most successful.
