Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release

Friday Night The Fargo-Moorhead Jets have done everything but beat North Iowa after mounting a comeback falling 6-3 Friday night.

The first was one to brush under the rug as Max Mobley (Glendale, AZ) assisted on two of the three Outlaw biscuits. Nothing went right offensively as the Jets had an early advantage on shots 10-2 but no goals. The period would end with North Iowa firing 10 shots for a 3-0 lead.

A fresh slab of ice and some intermission words had the Jets fired up as Marc Mihulka (Grand Forks, ND) put a power-play goal past Robby Moss (St. Louis, MO) making 3-1. Marc Harrie (Fargo, ND) got the second goal of the period and something seemed to be going right as the Jets trailed 3-2 after two periods.

Once again Moss would make great saves and get good help from his D core as the Outlaws netted three more from Jack Paul (Minnetonka, MN), Tyler Jundt (Williston, ND) and Bryant Skarda (Lake Elmo, MN) putting the game out of reach at 6-3. Andrew Harrison (Temperance, MI) made it interesting with his sniper at 4-3 but it wouldn't be enough. The Jets managed to out shoot the Outlaws 50-30 but found the gaps only three times.

Saturday Night The Fargo-Moorhead Jets played solid defensively for 57 minutes of Saturday night's showdown with North Iowa but couldn't hang on, 3-1.

The first period was electrifying as the Outlaws and Jets put high energy shots and hard hits on the same lines. It was Matt Morin (Brooklyn Park, MN) who got the first goal of the game on a 5-3 advantage making it 1-0 with 30 seconds left in the period. The Jets were out shot 11-9 by the Outlaws.

It was another Jets' dominated second period as four scoring chances were rifled off in the first three minutes but they came away scoreless. When push came to shove the Jets used a nifty goal by Mark Johnson (Bloomington, MN) netting it at 1-1 closing down the second period. Each team was pinned at 22 shots and one goal, setting the stage for one hell of a third period on deck.

Back and forth the Jets and Outlaws battled as power-plays we killed, bodies were crushed and hearts were broken as North Iowa buried two goals. Joe Harcharik (Des Moines, IA) and Shea Walters (Hibbing, MN) put the game away in the final three minutes leaving the Jets to ponder a 0-6 start against the division leader.

Closing Out the Month on a Better Note The Jets have a chance to start anew with a win on Friday against Bismarck and Saturday against Alexandria to finish off November and open December with higher expectations in the offensive department.

Playing Hard to Score The offense have scored 16 goals in eight games this month making it tough for Dawson and Okland with just an average of two goals to work with nightly. On the other skates the Jets have given up 29 goals just short of four per game. It will be a tough battle for the Jets to repeat as division champs at this rate.

Injury Report The Jets were able to welcome back F Mike Schumacher from a separated shoulder but will miss F Andy Dittus until after the Christmas break with a broken collar bone and G David Bosner for the rest of the year with a torn labrum.
