Jets To Set Attendance Record This Weekend
March 6, 2007 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release
Fargo (ND) The lines at the ticket windows are longer, the lobby is more crowded and people purchasing general admission tickets are no longer surrounded by endless waves of empty seats. Those growing crowds at the Carlson Coliseum haven't been a mirage but instead actual bodies on the seats and this weekend the Fargo-Moorhead Jets of the North American Hockey League will likely set a new franchise attendance record.
The FM Jets have drawn a total of 23,311 fans for their 24 Coliseum home games and are only 419 people away from eclipsing the previous regular season high of 23,729 set last season.
These attendance figures don't count the Team USA exhibition game played Dec. 2nd, which drew a single-game franchise record 2,328 fans.
A new record could be set as early as this Thursday night when the FM Jets take on the Bismarck Bobcats at 7:35pm. With an average home attendance of 971 per game, barring something bizarre such as an unexpected Martian Attack, the record should be set that night. The FM Jets are also home on Friday (7:35pm) and Saturday (7:05pm) versus the Fairbanks Ice Dogs.
The FM Jets (34-15-4, 72pts) lead the Central Division by five points over second place Southern Minnesota and could mathematically clinch the division title as early as this weekend with wins and some help.
The FM Jets Junior A Hockey Club is in its fourth season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 31st year of operation. For more information, visit fmjets.com or call (701) 235-2354.
