Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release
Fargo (ND) Phil Fox's (Stillwater, MN) six-point production last weekend didn't go unnoticed as the veteran was named the North American Hockey League's Offensive Player of the Week for the weekend of Dec. 3.
Fox had four assists and two goals to help lead the FM Jets to a win and shootout loss against the Minnesota Blizzard. The second-year veteran now has 89 career points with the FM Jets, and is fourth on the franchise's all-time scoring list. He is averaging a team-high 1.4 points per game.
On Friday night, December 2, on the road in Alexandria against the Minnesota Blizzard, Fox set up a goal with under four minutes to go in the second period to tie the game at 1-1. Then, with just under four minutes remaining in regulation time, Fox scored the game winner, giving the Jets a 2-1 triumph.
The next evening on home ice, the Stillwater, Minnesota native, scored midway through the second period to tie the Blizzard 1-1. The Blizzard then scored a pair of goals to retake the lead, only to have Fox set up a goal late in the second period and two more midway through the third to put the Jets in the lead. The Blizzard would eventually tie the game and win in a shootout, but thanks to Fox, the Jets did get a point out of the contest.
Fox and the FM Jets next play at home Thursday night against their North Dakota rivals, the Bismarck Bobcats at 7pm.
The FM Jets are the 2005 Borne Cup Champions and are in their third season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 30th year of operation.
Jets home games are played at the John E. Carlson Coliseum in Fargo, ND. All games are broadcast at STAR 103.9 and fmjets.com.
