Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release

The Fargo Moorhead Jets Junior A Hockey team and Star 103.9 FM, a Media Entertainment Group station, have announced a new broadcast partnership for the 2004-05 season.

Star 103.9 FM will broadcast all 56 of the Jets regular season hockey plus all pre-season games and any of the team's post-season contests.

Star 103.9FM president and CEO, Tony Elliot stated, "As one of the few locally owned and fully independent radio stations in the FM area, we look forward to the partnership with the Jets, one of only 30 Junior A teams in the country.

"The broadcast package is more than just broadcasting games. It gives a destination for fans to listen to their town's team, hear about promotion events, and hear about the team's community involvement, which makes the Jets a growing favorite!

"Besides that, they play some pretty darn good hockey!"

Jets general manager Randy Nielsen has indicated a play-by-play announcer will join the team in late August. A formal announcement and introduction to the community will be made at that time. Nielsen added the Jets were looking for some volunteer broadcast students interested in working various support roles for the broadcasts.

The Jets begin play this year on September 8, with an exhibition game against the Winkler Manitoba Flyers. This will be the team's second season as a member of the North American Hockey League, the nation's oldest and largest Junior A league.
