Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release
(Fargo, ND) - It was a painful pill to swallow Saturday night at the Coliseum as the Springfield Jr. Blues avenged Friday night's performance and escaped with a 5-4 win via the shoot out.
It was Matt Globke (West Bloomfield, MI) who got the Blues on the board with a power-play goal 11 minutes into the game making it 1-0. The Jets responded with another pretty goal by Mark Johnson (Bloomington, MN), his third of the season, knotting the game at 1-1. The Blues would add another to close out the first on top, 2-1.
Andrew Harrison (Temperance, MI) and Mike Schumacher (Duluth, MN) got the Jets back on top 3-2, each getting after it. The lead wouldn't hold as Taylor Kennedy (St. Josephs, MO) and Darren Rowe (Simi Valley, CA) who regained the edge for the Blues at 4-3 in the second. The Jets would battle back with another goal from Schumacher after the puck was rifled off the post by Andrew Muir (Hallock, MN) making it tied at 4-4.
It was a scoreless third period and overtime as the game continued into a shoot out. The Jets sent Trottier, Dittus, Mihulka and Philipp but were unsuccessful. Trottier and Dittus got the only clean shots on net and Blues tender Phil Cook (Wheaton, IL) made amazing saves to ice the win at 5-4.
The Jets head to Marquette to play a pair against the Rangers on Oct.12th and 13th. Games will be heard in their entirety via fmjets.com and Saturday night on 103.9 "The Truck."
