JetHawks Win Third Straight

Lancaster, Ca. – Scott Barber worked eight innings in his longest outing of the season, as the JetHawks won their third straight against High Desert at the Hangar. It was Lancaster's (15-10) third straight win of the series and fourth overall, as they remain in a first place tie with Rancho Cucamonga in the South. The Mavericks' woes continue with their eighth consecutive loss, eleven straight on the road, ad 28 pf 29 dating back to last year.

Barber (3-1)benefited from three ground-ball double plays in the game, including two off the bat of Daryl Clark, the Cal League's home run and RBI leader. The Mavericks were held to seven hits and two runs, as Barber picked up his second win against High Desert this season.

Kade Johnson accounted for both runs against Barber in the sixth, with a two run home run to right field, his 9th of the season.

Every member of the line up had at least one hit in the 11-hit attack. Josh Kroeger continued his hot hitting with a double and a triple in four at bats. Dan Uggla also chipped in two hits with two RBI's.

Five runs broke the game open in the bottom of the seventh. Kroeger's double led off the inning, and after Mike Thiessen's walk, Uggla singled to break a 2-2 tie. Mayo Santana's double scored Thiessen to chase reliever Ken Ray from the game, while Danny Richar followed with a two-run double, and Marland Williams an RBI single to round out the five-run frame.

Ray (0-1) took the loss in his first outing of the season. After working a perfect fifth, he was charged with three hits and four earned runs in the sixth inning.

Mike DiRosa, the last JetHawk without a base hit, joined the party with his second home run of the season, a solo blast to left field in the 8th.

The series concludes with Lance Cormier (3-2, 1.64) taking the mound against the Mavs' Chris Saenz (1-2, 6.86). Game time is 7:15 p.m.
