Lancaster JetHawks News Release
LANCASTER, Calif. - Garrett Schilling turned in his ninth quality start of the season as the JetHawks took down the Lake Elsinore Storm, 4-3, Wednesday night at The Hangar. With the victory, Lancaster is one game ahead of the Storm in the overall standings.
Schilling (8-5) pitched a scoreless first inning and the offense staked him to an early lead. Sean Bouchard took Aaron Leasher (8-6) deep in the bottom of the first, giving the JetHawks a 2-0 advantage.
Lake Elsinore (17-17, 52-50) tied the game with one run in the second inning and another in the fifth. Those were the only runs Schilling allowed in six innings, and one of the runs was unearned.
Lancaster (19-15, 53-49) went in front for good in the last of the fifth inning. With two on and one out, Taylor Snyder hit a ball off the outfield fence. Both runners scored, but Snyder was thrown out at the plate. He settled for a two-run triple, but his streak of four consecutive games with a home run came to an end.
The two-run cushion proved to be just enough, as Lake Elsinore got a home run from Luis Campusano in the seventh inning. Moises Ceja and Tommy Doyle combined to pitch the final two innings on a combined 11 pitches. Doyle earned his 17th save of the season.
Lancaster leads Lake Elsinore by one game in the wild card standings, but the two teams still have 12 games left to play in the regular season. So far, the JetHawks have won 11 of the 20 meetings.
The JetHawks will go for their third series sweep of 2019 Thursday night. Lefty Ryan Rolison (3-6) gets the ball for Lancaster against Lake Elsinore's Seth Blair (2-1). First pitch from The Hangar is 6:35 pm.
