Jesse Thompson Named Hartford Colonials Tight Ends Coach, Special Teams Assistant

EAST HARTFORD, CT - April 13, 2011 - Hartford Colonials head coach and general manager JERRY GLANVILLE announced the hiring of JESSE THOMPSON as tight ends coach and special teams assistant.
Thompson was wide receivers coach and Director of Football Operations for Albright College in 2010. Prior to that he was running backs coach at Portland State for two seasons (2008-09) during Glanville's three-year tenure (2007-09) as Vikings head coach.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with Coach Glanville again," Thompson said. "I'm excited that he brought me on board and I'm really looking forward to working with the top-notch coaching staff he has put together. I feel extremely optimistic about what we're going to do."
Thompson joins a Colonials coaching staff that includes Harold Jackson (wide receivers) and Tim Krumrie (defensive line). Both have a combined 25 years of NFL coaching experience.
In 2007, Thompson was running backs coach at Division II Northern State. Previously he was an assistant for three years (2004-06) at Lewis & Clark College as the defensive backs coach for two seasons and the running backs coach for one year.
"Jesse will be a very good teacher," Glanville said. "He knows our offense, tight end blocking, pass routes, and has a total knowledge of our formations and personnel packages."
During his collegiate playing career, Thompson was a fullback at Portland State and Southern Oregon. As a senior, he helped Southern Oregon advance to the 2001 NAIA quarterfinals.
Thompson, a native of Portland, OR, graduated from Portland State with a B.S. in Health Education.
The UFL begins its third season in August as the Colonials play an eight-game schedule against teams from Las Vegas, Omaha, Sacramento and Virginia. The 2011 schedule will be announced in the coming weeks. Fans can register for tickets for the 2011 Colonials season at www.HartfordColonials.com.
