Jersey Express News Release
The Jersey Express traveled to Montreal, Canada to take on the Montreal Royal, in a 1st round playoff game. The Royal came away with a 118-110 victory in front of their home crowd.
The Express, up 63-62 at halftime, fell behind by 12 early in the fourth quarter, and then went on its own run to cut the lead to 4. From that point on, the game went back and forth, with each team making play after play to keep them in the game. The game featured 10 lead changes and 12 ties. The game was a hard fought affair, with both teams vying for a spot in the Final 8 in Quebec City.
The Jersey Express had five players in double figures, led by Captain Duquan Everett, with 23pts and 13 rbds. Point guard Lance Hazel 26, Dwayne Howell 19, and Phillip Smith chipped in 18pts and 10rbds in a losing effort. Montreal was led by Tommy Mitchell with 36pts to lead all scorers.
"We wish Montreal well in the Final 8 tonight, against the Manchester Millrats. Should Mitchell shoot as well against Manchester, as he did from the 3pt line against us, it will be a really good game; stated Co-owner Marsha Blount.

Dr. Lee is an internationally recognized orthopedic surgeon, and recipient of the 2007 Pioneer in Sports Award for his outstanding contributions to high school sports in the State of New Jersey.
