Evansville BlueCats News Release
EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats are excited to announce the signing of indoor football veteran Dale Jennings and four other players for the 2007 indoor football season. Jennings is returning for his 5th season of professional indoor football, all of them with the BlueCats. He is the only player to be a part of the Evansville BlueCats since the beginning of the franchise. The other four players are new to the team and include LB/DE Rudy Foye, OL Gerald Perry, RB Cornell Canidate, and DB/WR/KR Terrance Sevion.
Last season, Dale Jennings led the BlueCats in touchdowns, rushing yards, and kick return yards. He contributed at several different positions a year ago, seeing action at running back, receiver, cornerback, and kick returner. Jennings also holds several BlueCats team records, and is the all-time career leader in games played, rushing yards, and touchdowns, and ranks third all-time in receiving yards. He's tied for the all-time lead in pass receptions. He also holds the team record for rushing yards in a single game, with 122 yards, a Roberts Stadium record that still stands.
Jennings is originally from Vincennes, Indiana, where he graduated from Vincennes Lincoln High School before playing college football for Butler University.
Evansville BlueCats Head Coach John Hart said, "Dale is a really talented player. There aren't very many guys who can play at as many positions as Dale can at that high of level. He makes plays every time he's on the field. He's also a leader and he's a guy who's been an outstanding player for the BlueCats over the years, and his teammates look up to him."
Also signing with the BlueCats is Rudy Foye, a LB/DE from Hampton. Foye started at outside linebacker for the Hampton Pirates where he led the team with 5 sacks as a senior in 2005. He also recorded 7.5 tackles for loss, and was a key part of a Hampton defensive unit that led the MEAC in scoring defense. Foye was a member of Hampton's back-to-back MEAC Championship teams in 2004 and 2005.
Joining Foye with the BlueCats this season, is college teammate and offensive lineman Gerald Perry. Both Foye and Perry were teammates on Hampton's 2004 MEAC Championship team. Gerald Perry was senior in 2004, and was named First Team All-MEAC at guard.
The BlueCats would also like to welcome running back Cornell Canidate from Arizona State. Canidate earned Pac 10 All-Freshman honors from the Sporting News after leading the Sun Devils in rushing as a redshirt freshman. Canidate was limited by various injuries throughout the remainder of his college career. Cornell is the younger brother of Trung Canidate, formerly of the University of Arizona and the St. Louis Rams.
Rounding out the group is Terrance Sevion, a DB/WR/KR from Southwestern College. Originally from Muncie, Indiana, Sevion will be making his professional football debut with the BlueCats in 2007. He was selected to the 2005 All-Star squad while competing in the Interstate Football League in 2005; a semi-pro league made up of teams in eastern Indiana and western Ohio.
Foye, Perry, Canidate, and Sevion were scouted and placed by the coaches and staff of the indoor football scouting bureau.
