
Jedd Gyorko Named to Baseball America Triple-A All-Star Team

Baseball America announced its All-Star teams for every minor league classification Friday and Tucson Padres infielder Jedd Gyorko was named the Triple-A All-Star at third base. In 92 Pacific Coast League games, Gyorko hit .328 with a team-leading 24 home runs and 83 RBIs. Gyorko began the season at Double-A San Antonio, posting a .262 batting average in 34 games for the Missions.
Other Padres prospects in Baseball America's All-Star teams included Lake Elsinore designated hitter Tommy Medica, who played in the High-A California League this season and Fort Wayne reliever Matt Stites, who played for the Padres Low-A Midwest League affiliate this year. TinCaps manager Jose Valentin was named Low-A Manager of the Year by Baseball America.
The Tucson Padres 2013 season opens Thursday, April 4 in Salt Lake (Angels affiliate) and the home opener is on Friday, April 12 against Fresno (Giants affiliate).
