Jean-Philippe Mathieu Suspended Ten Games; T.J. Brennan gets Five

BOUCHERVILLE, Wednesday, February 11, 2009 - The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Disciplinary Prefect today announced that defenseman Jean-Philippe Mathieu of the P.E.I. Rocket has been suspended ten games (automatic one-game suspension and an additional nine games) for cross-checking an opponent on the head during last Saturday's game against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
Moreover, the Disciplinary Prefect suspended Montreal Juniors blue-liner T.J. Brennan five games (automatic one-game suspension and an additional four games) for attempting to injure an opponent in last Saturday's contest versus the Gatineau Olympiques.
The decisions were rendered after reviewing the videotapes of the incidents and after consulting all concerned parties.
In accordance with the QMJHL policy in the matter of disciplinary sanctions, the Disciplinary Prefect will not be available for further comment.
