Jax sign fifth all-time leading scorer and three brothers to contracts

As open tryouts take place this Saturday, the Jax sign Ted Dowling, Peter Morgan, and David Morgan as the ninth, tenth, and eleventh players with contracts. The Morgan family will have three deep on the Jax 2006 roster, with Peter and David joining their already signed brother Richard. David Morgan, at 6'10'' is also the tallest player on record in the history of the NLL. Dowling is the fifth all-time NLL goal scorer with 327 goals in thirteen years.

In addition to being fifth all-time goal scorer, Dowling's success on the turf also makes him the league's sixth all-time points scorer in the regular season with 582 points (327 goals, 255 assists). The Streetsville, Ontario native, comes to the Jax from the Calgary Roughnecks. The 5'10'' 190lb forward has scored 80% of his career points over the last four years in the league, making him a threat next season.

Peter Morgan, the Maple Ridge, British Columbia native is only the second player on the Jax to sign a two-year contract and boasts a record of 165 career points (87 goals, 78 assists). With the Anaheim Storm, the 6'6'' 225lb forward contributed the most power play goals (11 goals), making Anaheim the best power play team last season.

David Morgan made a career change to lacrosse two years ago after playing basketball at the University of Nevada and overseas for seven years. The defenseman played lacrosse on the New Westminster Salmonbellies and had 20 points (5 goals, 15 assists) last season. The 6'10'' 270lb Canadian grew up playing both basketball and lacrosse, but played basketball in Greece, Norway, and Belgium before deciding to come back to Canada to play lacrosse.

The Morgan's will be the first trio of brothers to play together on the same team since the Kilgour's (Darris, Rich, & Travis) played together on the Buffalo Bandits from 1995-1999.The three newest Jax are great assets to the expansion team and will highlight their talents in the upcoming season getting under way in the Rose Garden on Saturday, January 21 at 7:30p against the Colorado Mammoth.

The Portland LumberJax (www.PortlandJax.com) were founded on May 11, 2005 as an expansion franchise in the National Lacrosse League, which features the best lacrosse players in the world.
