
Jax play for home field advantage this weekend

The LumberJax play two games this weekend in the battle for home field advantage in the first round of the National Lacrosse League playoffs. Portland (9-5) will face off against Edmonton (1-14) in their third and final meeting in the Rose Garden tomorrow at 7:30p. The Jax have won the first two meetings against the Rush. On Saturday, the Jax head to Minnesota to play against the Swarm (8-7). Portland lost their only game against the Swarm on March 17th (14-12), but since then the Jax have won four games in a row.
This week goaltender Dallas Eliuk was named the Week #15 NLL Defensive Player. Eliuk led the Jax to a 9-6 road win over the San Jose Stealth on Friday. The veteran held the Stealth scoreless for the entire first half and for 5:30 of the third quarter before allowing San Jose's first score of the contest. Eliuk recorded 39 saves, allowed six goals and scooped up five loose balls in the victory. This is his second NLL Weekly Award this season; he also won in week four after he accumulated 53 saves in a win against Colorado.
The Portland LumberJax have already clinched a playoff berth, and have the opportunity this weekend to earn home field advantage in the first round. The LumberJax can clinch a home playoff game by winning one of their games this weekend, or by Calgary winning one of their games against Colorado. Portland can clinch the West Division title by winning both of their games this weekend, and at least one Colorado win over Calgary. - OR - The LumberJax can clinch the West Division title by winning one of their games this weekend along with two Colorado wins over Calgary.
The LumberJax will play their last regular season home game on Friday, April 14 at 7:30p against Edmonton. The game will be broadcast live on KCMD 970AM.
