Jax Partner With Livestrong Challenge

PORTLAND, September, 19, 2007 - The Portland LumberJax are about to challenge cancer by pedal and on foot. Partnering with Team Risky Business, the Jax will participate in the Livestrong Challenge on September 30. The event, held at the Nike World Headquarters, features bike rides from 10-100 miles and a 5k walk/run.

The Livestrong Challenge is the Lance Armstrong Foundation's (LAF) signature fundraising event. Armstrong is a cancer survivor who won seven consecutive Tour De France's after battling cancer. His awe inspiring story has been captured globally and he is one of the world's most recognizable public figures.

Portland is one of three cities to host a challenge that features walking, running, and cycling events to support the LAF.

Team Risky Business has over 200 members and has raised more than $100,000 this year to support the LAF.

From the LumberJax, Creative Production Manager Jillian Downing will participate in the 40 mile bike ride and Media Relations Manager Steven Masters and Director of Ticket Sales Donna Posner will run in the 5K walk/run.

SunsUp Tanning Jax Dancers Tina, Jessica, Melissa, and Mary Ellen will run the 5K course and Tracy and Kristin will walk the 5K.
