Guelph Storm News Release

The Guelph Storm are pleased to announce that Jason Brooks will be the team's new Head Coach effective immediately. Brooks will assume the role following the departure of former Head Coach and General Manager, Dave Barr, who accepted a coaching position with the Colorado Avalanche last week.

Brooks, who has spent the last seven years with the Storm as an Assistant and most recently an Associate coach and Assistant General Manager, will be behind the bench when the Storm open their 18th season at home versus the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on September 19th.

"I am honored and excited to get this opportunity", Brooks said. "I would like to thank the Guelph Storm Ownership Group for believing in me and giving me the chance to become their next Head Coach. I look forward to continuing the success and tradition that we have here in Guelph."

Brooks will be the 13th Head Coach in Storm history, including six coaches that moved on to coach at the NHL level.

"We are proud to appoint Jason as the new Head Coach of the Storm", President Rick Hoyle offered. "We are extremely fortunate to have such depth in our organization and there is no question that Jason deserves this opportunity. He has succeeded and proven himself at both the OHL level as well as on the international stage."

Last January, Brooks won a gold medal as Head Coach of Team Ontario at the Under-17 Tournament in London Ontario. This will be his eighth season in Storm City.
