San Angelo Saints News Release

SAN ANGELO – The San Angelo Saints today announced the team has signed forward Jan Jas (Yahn Yahs) and he will be in uniform for this weekend’s games. The native of Presov, Slovakia is no stranger to the CHL having played previously for the Macon Whoopee and Indianapolis Ice. He also played in the old WPHL for Lake Charles and Odessa. His career totals include 135 points (62G, 73A) in 170 professional games. He began this season with Knoxville of the ACHL where he recorded 3 assists in 4 games. Jas becomes a vital part of the team immediately with the injuries to forwards Jamie Thompson, Jason Abel and Blake Sheane. Thompson could possibly play Sunday against Memphis, but Abel and Sheane will be out until at least next weekend.

Even with the addition of Jas the Saints will have only 14 available skaters for Friday instead of the usual 16. This is the second roster move this week by the Saints who released rookie defenseman Graeme Beattie and replaced him with rookie defenseman Kevin Fournier on Monday.

Tomorrow begins a grueling 4-games in 5-days stretch for the Saints with Corpus Christi in San Angelo Friday, a game at Corpus Christi Saturday, back home against Memphis on Sunday and at home against Odessa on Tuesday. Then, after two days off, the Saints will play 6-games in 9-days from Nov. 15-23.
