Keystone Ice Miners News Release
CONNELLSVILLE, PA - Brendan Jaquay scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season while Keenan Sabatini, A.J. Coleman, and Robert Jaworski all scored their first NAHL goals in a 5-2 Ice Miners win over the Kenai River Brown Bears on Tuesday night at the Ice Mine.
Keystone netted three first period goals for the first time this season, beginning with a Sabatini powerplay goal at 6:05. After Jacob Coleman won a faceoff, Sabatini took a feed from Reed Scahill and bombed a one-timer past Evan Hauser, making his NAHL debut for Kenai River. Just 1:44 later, A.J. Coleman re-directed a shot from LordAnthony Grissom past Hauser for a 2-0 lead. Alex Archibald also assisted. Jaquay made it 3-0 at the 18:48 mark when he moved out of the left wing corner and snuck in his 4th of the season.
In the second period, Keystone extended its lead to 4-0 when Jaquay took a brilliant pass from Jacob Coleman and slid in his 2nd goal of the night. Jaquay would later get into a fight with Kenai's Ben Campbell, slowing his chance at a hat trick. The Brown Bears got on the board at 16:47 of the frem when Maurin Bovet slipped a backhand through Nick Kossoff's five-hole and the score was 4-1 through 40 minutes.
Robert Jaworski, just recalled Monday, would become the 3rd Ice Miner to score his first NAHL goal on the night when Vito Aluia set him up at 4:58 of the 3rd period. The Brown Bears got a late goal from Alex Jackstadt to cut the lead to 5-2 but Kossoff's 31 saves was plenty for his 6th victory of the season. Keystone jumped back to .500 at 14-14-3 and moved into 3rd place in the North Division. The loss from Kenai River was their 9th in the last 10 games.
The Ice Miners and Brown Bears will play again Wednesday night at 6:00pm. All tickets are just $5 and can be purchased at keystoneiceminershockey.com or at the door. Gates open at 5:00.
