Orlando Apollos News Release
TODAY'S NEWS
The Apollos wrapped up their first full week in San Antonio with their sixth consecutive morning practice on Saturday. The afternoon walkthrough was canceled as the team heads into their off-day on Sunday.
WARD WATCHING: Hines Ward, Head of Football Development for The Alliance of American Football, attended Apollos' practice on Saturday morning. Speaking of the talent level he's seen at the various camps across the league, Ward said, "The talent is awesome. It's not to sit there and say they can't play at the next level, they just weren't given the opportunities. Having these guys, I know they're extremely excited. You can see them playing with a chip on their shoulders."
FINDING THE RIGHT FIT: Apollos general manager Tim Ruskell likes what he sees so far from the roster at training camp. Ruskell has made a few moves here and there, trying to find the right group of 52 players that will fill out the depth chart for the team when The Apollos launch on February 9 against The Atlanta Legends. Ruskell said, "I think the best thing that we're seeing is the energy, the focus, just the desire from the players. It comes out in every drill at every practice - I'm hearing that from the other GMs and we're seeing that for ourselves."
THE FIRST TEST: The Apollos will resume normal practice at the University of the Incarnate Word on Monday for two days. On Wednesday, Orlando will host The Arizona Hotshots for the team's first joint-practice of training camp, allowing The Apollos to see how they compare to another Alliance team at this point.
At practice, The Apollos content team caught up with Alliance Head of Football Development Hines Ward, Apollos general manager Tim Ruskell, running back Akeem Hunt and defensive end Anthony Moten Jr. B-roll, interviews, images and quote sheets from Apollos training camp are available on the Apollos media website.

The Apollos compete in The Alliance of American Football with The Atlanta Legends, Birmingham Iron, Memphis Express, Arizona Hotshots, Salt Lake Stallions, San Antonio Commanders and San Diego Fleet. The name Orlando Apollos is inspired by Apollo, Greek god of the sun, who is often depicted as an archer. The Apollos' colors are derived from two shades of orange which are reflective of the warm Florida sunshine that is common to Orlando and central Florida, and the color navy also pays respect to the Apollo Space mission and the entire Florida Space Coast. The Apollos' arrow points east toward Florida.
