
Janik Moeser to Play for Germany in IIHF World Junior Championship

MUSKEGON, Michigan (December 12th) - The Muskegon Lumberjacks are proud to announce that Defenseman Janik Moeser has been named to Germany's preliminary roster for the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship that takes place from December 26th-January 5th in Malm̮̦, Sweden. Moeser will head back to Germany following Muskegon's pair of road games this weekend.
Moeser, the Mannheim, Germany native, is currently in his first season with the Lumberjacks and has recorded one goal and seven assists to go along with a plus-one rating in 26 games played.
Moeser was drafted by the Sioux Falls Stampede in the 11th-round (164th overall) during the 2013 USHL Phase Two Draft and was later traded to Muskegon this past July. Following his junior career, Moeser will be playing collegiately for the Ohio State Buckeyes out of the Big Ten Conference.
The 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship will be the 38th-edition of the tournament that features the best under-20 junior hockey programs from ten different countries competing for the gold medal in the top division. The tournament was won last season by the United States as they beat Sweden in the Gold Medal Game, 3-1.
The ten countries that are participating in this year's championship are the United States, Canada, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Sweden, Russia, Switzerland, Finland, and Norway. Norway takes Latvia's place in this year's tournament after winning the Division One Group A tournament last year in Amiens, France.
Germany will be positioned in Group A with the United States, Canada, Czech Republic, and Slovakia. Here is Germany's round robin schedule:

Germany will begin their pre-tournament camp on Tuesday, December 17th in F-ssen, Germany with 28 players and will trim the roster down to 23 prior to leaving for Sweden on Saturday, December 21st. In addition, Germany will play an exhibition game against Russia on Monday, December 23rd in Helsingborg, Sweden.
Germany remains in the top division for this year's tournament after defeating Latvia in the final game of the relegation round, 5-2, during last year's World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia. The Germans ended last year's tournament with a record of 0-0-1-3 (W-OTW-OTL-L) during round robin play followed by a 1-0-1-1 record in the relegation round to finish in 9th place for the championship.
The Lumberjacks will hit the road this weekend before the league-wide two-week holiday break hits against the Indiana Ice tomorrow night at 7:05 pm followed by a bout with the Chicago Steel on Saturday at 8:00 pm.
Following the break, the Lumberjacks will return home for the team's only Sunday home game of the season on December 29th against the Youngstown Phantoms at 5:15 pm that will feature Car Load Night. Fans can pile any number of people into one car for the low price of $40 that will include a ticket to the game along with a complimentary parking pass.
Individual game tickets will be on sale for the next three weeks for the December 29th home game for the low price of $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 3-12 if they are purchased before the day of the game. Tickets can be purchased at the Lumberjacks' Box Office or by calling (231) 724-5225.
