Jami Yoder Returns for Second Season in Quad Cities

Moline, IL-The Quad City Mallards announced today that defenseman Jami Yoder has agreed to terms for the 2006-07 season. Yoder appeared in 74 games last season in his debut campaign as a Mallard.

Yoder recorded 21 points (three goals and 18 assists) last season while cementing his reputation as one of the most reliable defensive defenseman in the United Hockey League. He recorded a plus nine rating and spent a career high 117 minutes in the penalty box. He ranked fourth amongst UHL defensemen in minor penalties (56).

Yoder capped his first season as a Mallard by recording five points (two goals and three assists) in the Mallards Quarterfinal Round Playoff Series vs. the Danbury Trashers. In the decisive seventh contest, Yoder recorded two goals.

"Jami played a big role in our success last year," said Mallards President Tim Taylor. "He's an excellent leader and great defensive defenseman. Off the ice, Jami has great intangibles that make him a fan favorite and very popular with his teammates. He's committed to the community and that's evidenced by his involvement in the Mallards Roller Hockey Camp."

"Jami's work ethic and drive sit him apart from other defensemen," said Mallards General Manager and Head Coach Brian Curran. "He's completely committed to helping his team reach its goals. He's also willing to sacrifice his body as you can see in the number of shots he blocks. He's one of the best defensive defenseman in this league."

Yoder will be one of the instructors at the upcoming Mallards Roller Hockey Camp. The camp runs in two one-week segments beginning August 7th.
