Rio Grande Valley FC Toros News Release
EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC midfielder James Murphy today launched "The SP Edition" Non-Fungible Token collection via Khelp, making him the first player in the United Soccer League and at RGV FC to launch their own NFT series.
The NFT set was handcrafted by digital designer Marc Ricca and features three personally signed NFT variations by Murphy that contain an unlockable code, giving the original buyer a chance at winning some awesome fan giveaways.
"I am thrilled to partner with Khelp to release my digital collectible to connect with not only the fans, but the broader NFT community," said Murphy. "Really excited for this new venture with the Khelp team."
Khelp develops new experiences for athletes and their fans through innovative digital assets in a brand-new class of marketplaces. Their initiative pairs well with players from teams like RGV FC, that are fueling the growth of professional soccer in a heightening league such as the USL Championship.
"NFTs give athletes like James the ability to connect with their fans on a more personal level," said Boomer Saraga, CEO of Khelp. "We've had the pleasure of building James' digital image and are ecstatic to facilitate new relationships with both his RGV FC and global fanbase."
"We are happy and proud of James' new adventure. We hope he can develop a great business," said Wilmer Cabrera, RGV FC Head Coach and Sporting Director. "He is talented and smart and that is a great combination to be successful."
Non-Fungible Tokens are individual, tokenized assets valued for uniqueness, rarity, and most importantly, their immutability. They can seamlessly be exchanged between peers and can represent both digital and tangible entities.
The James Murphy x The SP Edition will be available for purchase beginning Wednesday, July 21 on OpenSea.
