Philadelphia Soul News Release
PHILADELPHIA (November 16, 2011) - The Philadelphia Soul add Philadelphia basketball star, Jameer Nelson to the all-star caliber list of people involved with the "Philly Football Rocks" initiative. Nelson joins Philadelphia's hottest sports athlete, Michael Vick; Kamal Gray from Philadelphia's Grammy Award-winning band, The Roots; Philadelphia football legend, Vince Papale; Philadelphia baseball star, Jimmy Rollins; and Philadelphia hockey star, James Van Riemsdyk.
The "Philly Football Rocks!" program allows non-profit and youth sports organizations to raise money while spreading goodwill and creating meaningful experiences and great exposure. The Soul have already signed up over 50 partners through this program.
"I am excited to support this Soul initiative supporting youth basketball in the Philadelphia area," said Nelson. "The goal is to raise the funds required for organizations to run a basketball league for necessities like equipment, uniforms and court time. This is something that I feel very strongly about and I am glad to be a part of this cause. "
Organizations that sign up for the program will receive: up to 55 percent of the revenue generated from ticket sales to Soul games, an autographed Fender electric guitar signed by Kamal Gray, Jameer Nelson, Vince Papale, Jimmy Rollins, James Van Riemsdyk or Michael Vick (depending on the program selected); an autographed over-sized print from 1980 Super Bowl of Ron Jaworski; an autographed football and jersey signed by Jaworski and a Soul player or coach. A limited number of packages are available.
With a goal of 300 partners signed up before the start of the season and each organization expecting to raise $5,000 on average, this equates to $1.5 million in "FUN-RAISING" Revenue in total to be earned from this initiative for organizations spanning all throughout the Delaware Valley, Lehigh Valley and beyond.
The Philadelphia Soul is currently looking for more partners to join in the mission to raise $1.5 million. Youth Football Organizations should contact Chris Thompson, Manager, Football Programs & Experiences, at 215-253-4900, ext. 181 or cthompson@philadelphiasoul.com and Non-Profit Organizations should contact Bob Capewell, Manager, Group Sales, at 215-253-4900, ext. 176 or bcapewell@philadelphiasoul.com.
