Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (July 6)- Sign, save, win and repeat. This is the cycle the Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) are hoping as they have re-signed goaltender Brett Jaeger for the 2009-10 campaign.
Jaeger returns to the Brahmas following a career-best season where he led the league with a .930 save percentage and a 2.20 GAA in the postseason, which converted to a CHL Championship. The Alberta native posted a phenomenal .924 save percentage and a 2.36 GAA in the regular season where he put up a 28-9-5 record. His three assists in the regular season was his most offensive season as a professional. Jaeger was also mentioned as the top ranked netminder in the Central Hockey League by "Goalie's World Magazine" in their May-June 2009 issue.
In the 2008-09 campaign Jaeger collected a pair of shutouts in the regular season and one in the playoffs. He was also able to shatter three single season franchise records: Goals Against (98), Save Percentage (.924) and Goals Against Average (2.36). Jaeger is five victories short of becoming the Brahmas all-time winningest goaltender, which is held by Rob Laurie with 45 wins.
The six year professional came to Texas midway through the 2007-08 season and posted a 13-6-1 record in the regular season. In 22 games, Jaeger had 2.52 goals against average (GAA) and a .921 save percentage.
Jaeger led all CHL goalies in the 2008 playoffs with a 2.30 GAA and .935 save percentage (goalies playing more than 3 games). Last season with the Brahmas, Jaeger achieved Goalie of the Week honors from the CHL for the week of February 4-10, going 2-0 with wins against Youngstown and Bossier-Shreveport.
Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong is excited to have a Jaeger back on board for the 2009-10 season.
"Brett has proven to be the top goaltender in the league, so we made it a priority to bring him back for another run. His work ethic and strong play between the pipes is what makes the Brahmas so successful," said Wildfong.
Prior to joining the Brahmas during the 2007-08 season, Jaeger put up outstanding numbers in three seasons in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). He had a 51-32-15 career record and accumulated a .913 save percentage and 2.83 GAA. His successes found him a spot in the 2005-06 ECHL All-Star game.
