Ohio Valley Greyhounds News Release
Boise, Idaho (Jan. 30, 2003)â The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Great Lakes Storm guard Jermaine Jackson has been called up by the NBA's Atlanta Hawks. The NBA call-up is the fifth of the 2002-03 CBA season and Jackson's second this year.
Jackson, a 6-4 product of the University of Detroit Mercy ('99), began the season in the Toronto Raptors' training camp before being released. He became the first CBA-to-NBA call-up of 2002-03 when Toronto called his number on November 20. After 24 games with the Raptors, Jackson was released and rejoined the Storm on January 18.
In three games last week, his 25.0 ppg, 10.7 apg, 4.7 rpg, and 2.3 spg earned him American Conference Player of the Week honors. In eight CBA games this season, he posted 20.0 ppg, 8.5 apg, and 5.3 rpg.
"Jermaine has displayed leadership and a professional attitude throughout the time that he has been here," said Storm head coach Jeff Grayer. "This is his second call-up with the Storm and we truly hope that he will find a home in the NBA with the Atlanta Hawks."
Jackson averaged 15.4 ppg and 8.6 apg in 17 CBA games last season before a January 10 call up to the Raptors. In 24 games with Toronto he averaged 2.4 ppg and 2.4 apg. Jackson appeared in seven games for the Detroit Pistons in 1999-00.
