Jackson joins Butler

Birch Run, MI (March 1, 2005) – Great Lakes Storm guard Jermaine Jackson has signed with the NBA's New York Knicks, it was announced today by the Continental Basketball Association League Office and Knicks President of Basketball Operations Isiah Thomas. The signing marks the eleventh CBA-to-NBA call-up of the 2004-05 season, the fourth call-up of Jackson's career, and the second for the Great Lakes Storm (Jackie Butler – February 28, 2005) this season.

"Jermaine was a great leader for us and we wish him the best of luck," said Storm Head Coach Russ Bergman. "Hopefully he will continue to show that strong leadership at the NBA level."

Jackson averaged 20.3 points and 11.7 assists per contest in 15 games played (14 started) for the Storm. He also added 5.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game, while shooting 53.7 percent (101 of 188) from the floor, 82.2 percent (83 of 101) from the free-throw line, and 47.5 percent (19 of 40) from behind the three-point line.

Since signing with the Storm on January 11, the 6-foot-7, 204-pound guard earned three Eastern Conference Player of the Week awards during a seven week span.

This is the sixth CBA-to-NBA call-up in franchise history. Jermaine Jackson was called up once during the 2001-02 season and again on two separate occasions during the 2002-03 season. Leon Smith was called up after the 2003-04 season and Jackie Butler was called up on February 28.
