Odessa Jackalopes News Release
Odessa, TX - The Jackalopes, proud members of the North American Hockey League, have signed Josh Austin to a tender agreement, effective 2022-23. Austin is from Fond du Lac, WI.
The 17-year-old is currently playing for Team Wisconsin 18U AAA where has played in 28 games and registered 26 points (13g, 13a). The 5'11"/170lb. forward is second on the team in points and leads the team in goals. Austin had this to say about signing a tender agreement with the Jackalopes, "I'm really excited to extend my hockey career in Odessa, Texas! I think it will be a great atmosphere and a great experience. I'm looking forward to meeting some new lifelong friends and seeing a new part of the country. Go Jacks!"
A tender is an agreement between the player and team that states that the player now knows where he will be playing the following team. It also means no other teams are able to talk to the player. Once a player becomes a tender, they are put onto the team's affiliate list and are allowed to play a certain amount of games prior to the agreed-upon tender year.
Head Coach Scott Deur said this regarding Josh becoming the second tender signing of the season, "We are really excited for him to come on board and be part of our family for next season. Josh has been someone my scouts have been watching a lot lately and he continues to grow and improve his game. He can play at center or on the wall. So, he is a dynamic forward which is what we look for." Scott went on to add, He can really skate, and he has a nice shot. We are excited to work with him and see where he goes in the future"
