Jacks Fall 3-2 vs Amarillo

ODESSA, TX - This game was a s even as it could have been. The Odessa Jackalopes and the Amarillo Bulls traded goals in both the first and second periods. The shots on goal were almost even and both teams had scored a power-play goal.

But in the third period the Bulls were able to score off of Logan Jenuwine's third goal of the weekend to win the game 3-2. Jenuwine's goal came with under 30 seconds to play in regulation just when it looked like the Jacks and Bulls were going to overtime, an area of the game where Odessa was finding plenty of success as of late.

The Bulls started off earning the 1-0 lead in the first half of the first period off a rebound goal by Nick Trela. Odessa started to settle in offensively, and after some quality chances, was awarded with a power play late in the period.

James Crossman scored off a point shot that beat Amarillo netminder Justin Evenson high-glove to tie the game 1-1.

Going into the second period, the Jacks struck again.

This time it was Zach Heintz who carried up into the offensive zone and fed a hard pass right on the tape of Kyle Herbster. Herbster made no mistake, deflecting the pass in past Evenson to give the Jackalopes the lead.

This 2-1 lead lasted only six minutes as the Bulls tied the game 2-2 off a goal by Brett Abdelnour.

Going into the third period, the Jacks were undefeated when they were tied after two periods of play. Though it was clear that Amarillo wanted to win this game in regulation.

The Bulls took the play to the Jackalopes, out-shooting them 14-4 in the final period.

With under a minute to play Ryan Lautenbach led up along the left side of the Jack zone and sent a quick backhand pass that found Logan Jenuwine who slipped it in past Jacks goaltender Alex Camarre.

The Bulls were able to take three points from the weekend split with Odessa, the Jacks were forced to settle for only two.

With the loss, Odessa falls to 9-11-1 on the season. The Jacks will next play the Lone Star.
