Jacks add offensive depth in Johnson's return

Odessa, TX) - The Odessa Jackalopes announced today that forward Mark Johnson will return to the team for the upcoming 2008-2009 Central Hockey League season.

Johnson was acquired by the Jackalopes on Feb. 11 of last season in a trade with the Youngstown Steelhounds. Johnson contributed a goal and five assists in 19 games for the Jackalopes last year. He also scored a goal in game one of the Jackalopes' opening-round playoff series against the Austin Ice Bats.

"(Johnson) is a good young player with a ton of speed and energy," said Jacks coach Paul Gillis. "He's a great kid, works very hard all the time, finishes his checks and brings an enthusiasm that we want in a player. He'll work the penalty kill for us with his play."

Combined with his time in Youngstown, Johnson played in 51 games last season, scoring six goals and adding 10 assists. The 2006-2007 season was Johnson's first as a professional. That year he tallied 16 points for the Steelhounds (seven goals, nine assists).

In 2004-2005 the Glencoe, Ontario, product played a season of junior hockey for the Belleville Bulls of the OHL, scoring four goals and six assists in 63 games.
