
Jackals lose nailbiter in Quebec

Little Falls, NJ â Les Capitales de Quebec won a second consecutive tight ballgame against the New Jersey Jackals, 6-5.
New Jersey fell to 3-3, while Quebec improved to a league leading 6-0.
Mike Piercy tallied his first two RBIs in 2005 with a single in the first to put the Jackals ahead early. But Eddie Lantigua would strike again. In the bottom of the third, Lantigua crushed a three run homerun, his fourth of the season, putting Quebec ahead.
Joe Jiannetti hit a solo shot in the top of the fourth, but Les Capitales quickly regained the advantage in the bottom half of the inning. Geofrey Tomlinson doubled scoring two, putting Quebec ahead 5-3.
A two out rally by the Jackals in the top of the sixth brought them within one, but once again Quebec got it back quickly. Lantigua tripled home Tomlinson in the bottom half of the sixth.
A John Lindsey solo blast again brought the Jackals within one, 6-5, but the Quebec bullpen would shut them down from there on after.
Darwin Marrero got the win for Quebec. He went six innings, while surrendering four earned runs on eight hits, and fanning two. Aaron Myers lasted five innings for the Jackals and was the loser. He scattered 11 hits while giving up five runs, only two of them being earned. Christian Mendoza pitched a flawless ninth for his second save of 2005.
The New Jersey Jackals return home on Thursday. June 2, 2005, as the Grays come back into town.
