Jackals Improve Game-Night Experience Through Social Media
October 4, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, N.Y. - October 4, 2012 - The Elmira Jackals announced today upgrades that they have implemented this season to their game-night presentation. Fans will be able to interact with the Jackals through social media outlets to enhance their experience at First Arena.
"Social media is a wonderful tool for us in the sports industry. It offers fans unparalleled access to players and staff members, and that level of interaction is very important to us. I'm excited to offer these outlets to our fans on game nights and I think they will bring extra enjoyment at the games," said Jackals general manager Matt Hufnagel.
Hufnagel is at the forefront of the effort to help attendees better enjoy Jackals hockey. In order to improve customer satisfaction, the Jackals are asking that anyone who has an issue that needs addressed during a game to contact Hufnagel directly via his Twitter handle, @Matthuf. When you tweet your concern or need to Hufnagel be sure to include your seat location (section, row, and seat number) so that the proper steps can be taken to resolve your situation.
"No fan issue is too small, and no issue is unimportant. If there is anything we can do to make our fans' experience at a game better we want to know about it," added Hufnagel.
This season the Jackals will also be giving their fans a say in what music is played during game nights. For anyone who wants to make a song request, they will be able to tweet them to @JackalsDJ, and the Jackals will do their best to honor all the requests that they receive on a given night. Fans are asked to keep in mind that songs that are not family friendly or contain vulgar lyrics will not be played.
For those who are more into Facebook than Twitter, the Jackals have something great in store for you, too. They have teamed up with Pietro and Son Italian Restaurant for a brand-new trivia contest. Before every Jackals game this season the Pietro and Son Trivia Challenge will be posted on the Jackals Facebook page.
In order to enter the contest fans will post their answer to the trivia question in the comments section of the post. The contest will run throughout the Jackals game broadcast so only answers received between the start of the first period and the end of the third period will be eligible. In the event of multiple correct answers the Jackals will select a winner at random. The Jackals will send a direct message through Facebook to notify the winners. Each Pietro and Son Trivia Challenge winner will receive a gift certificate to use at Pietro and Son Italian Restaurant on West Washington Ave in Elmira.
