New Jersey Jackals News Release
Little Falls, NJ - The Jackals had multiple late inning chances Thursday night, but couldn't break through as they were defeated by the North Shore Spirit 4-2 at Yogi Berra Stadium.
The home side loaded the bases with two out in the bottom of the ninth, with Darren Ciraco drawing a bases-loaded walk to bring the Jackals within two, but that's as close as it would get.
The Spirit jumped out to a 4-0 lead through six innings before John Lindsey's seventh inning RBI double reduced the deficit to three. However, Lindsey was stranded at third and the Jackals would get no closer until the ninth.
Spirit starter Bryan Morse was tremendous, throwing a complete game. Morse let up two runs on eight hits and struck out four, walking only one.
Elvis Corporan was the lone Jackal with multiple hits, as the third baseman went 3-for-4 with a run scored. Jackals starter Josh Brey threw six effective innings, allowing three earned runs on three hits. Brey struck out four and walked two in the loss.
The Spirit's Vic Davilla and Travis Oglesby both raised their season home run totals to 12 in the contest. Oglesby's solo job got the Spirit on the board in the second, and Davila's two-run shot increased the visitor's lead to 4-0.
