New Jersey Jackals News Release
Little Falls, NJ ¬" The Jackals responded tremendously after a ninth inning loss to Elmira on Monday, with a 3-0 blanking of the Pioneers on Tuesday, thanks to a stupendous outing by New Jersey starter Josh Brey.
The Jackals put up a two-spot in the top of the second. After back-to-back singles to lead off the inning, Joe Jiannetti brought one across on a sacrifice fly, and Steve Checksfield singled for an RBI. Jiannetti drove in another RBI on his second sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth. Through four, the Jackals led 3-0, and would ride a stellar performance by Josh Brey for the rest of the way.
Brey, held the Pioneers to three hits in a flawless complete game effort. He struck out 11 batters, while walking only two. Brey also retired eight Pioneers in a row on one occasion, and nine on a separate one.
Steve Checkfsfield finished 3-4 for the Jackals with an RBI.
