Jackalopes Fall to Magicians 2-0
September 22, 2018 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Odessa Jackalopes News Release
BLAINE, MN - It was a goaltender's duel almost from the very start as CJ Hapward and Ethan Haider for Minnesota. Unfortunately for Odessa it was Haider who emerged victorious as the Jackalopes (2-4-1) fell to the Minnesota Magicians (3-1-0) by a score of 2-0.
The first period saw some great chances for both teams but they were unable to score as both Hapward and Haider made some spectacular saves to keep the game scoreless. The second period was much of the same for most of the second period. During that time, the Jackalopes had several goal-mouth scrambles and a breakaway that they could not find the back of the net on. Missed opportunities that could've changes the course of the game.
Instead it was Minnesota who scored first off, a Matt Stanton back-hander that fluttered over an outstretched Hapward.
Leading 1-0 going into the third the Magicians padded their lead with another goal by Stanton, this time on the power play.
The Jackalopes continued to be frustrated by a hot Minnesota goaltender and could not find a way to mount a successful comeback.
The loss marks the first time the Jacks have been shutout this season as Odessa completes their seven-game road-trip with a 2-4-1 record, they will face the Lone Star Brahmas next Friday at 7:30 pm.
