Island Storm Add 6'8" Power Forward to Roster

(Charlottetown, PE) With one player on Injured Reserve, the Island STORM announced today the signing of 6'8" power forward Mike Martin. Martin came available to the STORM when he was released Monday by the Halifax Rainmen and was immediately picked up by the STORM.

Martin had been playing over 21 minutes a game this season with the Rainmen, averaging 11.5 points per game and over 5 rebounds.

The Chicago native has extensive playing experience overseas having played in pro leagues in Australia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq. During his time overseas, Martin averaged 20 points and 7 rebounds while shooting over 41% from the floor.

Martin played his college ball at Chico State University where he averaged 16 points and 6 rebounds per season while shooting 44% from the 3 point line.

Martin is expected to be in the lineup this weekend when the STORM play two home games, Friday night at 7 o'clock against the Brampton A's and Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock when the Moncton Miracles visit Eastlink Arena in Charlottetown.
