
Irving Signs Pro Contract with Calgary Flames

Everett, WA - January 18, 2007: The Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League has announced that they have signed Everett Silvertips goaltender Leland Irving to a professional contract. As per club policy, terms and conditions of the deal were not disclosed. Irving was selected by the Calgary Flames in the 1st round (26th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
Irving is currently leading all WHL goaltenders in Goals Against Average (1.57) and in Save Percentage (93.7%). Leland is tied for 4th in the WHL in Wins (19) and tied for 2nd in Shutouts (6). The Swan Hills, AB native holds several Silvertips franchise goaltending records in Wins (65), Games Played (115), Minutes Played (6381), Saves (2533) and is tied for 1st in career Shutouts (12). Recently, Irving suited up for Team Canada's goal medal winning, World Junior squad at the 2007 World Junior Championships in Sweden.

"Leland is a very dedicated young man and is worthy of being drafted and signing a contract with the Calgary Flames.
