New Jersey Ironmen News Release

NEWARK, NJ (September 25, 2007) - The New Jersey Ironmen of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) will travel to Baltimore this Saturday for their first competitive play in franchise history. The club will partake in a preseason round robin tournament featuring the host Baltimore Blast and the defending MISL champion Philadelphia KiXX.

"This will be a great opportunity to see where we are in terms of our fitness level and overall understanding of the indoor game," Ironmen Vice President of Soccer Operations and Head Coach Omid Namazi stated. "After Saturday I will have a good feeling as to whether we need to go back to basics or start to fine-tune everything."

While the Ironmen may only be a first-year organization, Namazi, a two-time MISL Coach of the Year, has maintained a focus to bring in experienced veterans to mix together with a group of talented young prospects. The first acquisition Namazi made in New Jersey was the signing of forward Shaun David, one of only 22 players in league history to be selected to both the MISL All-Rookie Team (2003-04) and the All-League Team (2005-06). Under the tutelage of Namazi with the St. Louis Steamers, David was selected to play in the 2006 All-Star Game. He commented on what a team can learn from preseason competition.

"This will be a chance to see how our first-year players adjust to the speed and changes of the indoor game from the outdoor game," David said. "This will show the coach and the whole team how well we work with one another."

The round robin tournament will take place at Du Burns Arena in Baltimore, and it is set to open with the KiXX taking on Baltimore in the morning's first contest at 10:00 a.m. The Ironmen play Philadelphia in the second game and the Blast in the finale.

Season and group tickets for the Ironmen are available now. Season tickets start as low as $120! Call 1-800-IRONMEN today to be part of history!
