Milwaukee Mustangs News Release
The Milwaukee Iron have lost a premier player to the New York Jets. The Jets announced the signing of free agent Iron defensive tackle Anthony Harris. Harris played in two games for the Iron, grabbed three solo tackles, had one sack and was quickly becoming a fan favorite.
"He's a competitor and one heck of a defensive talent," said Milwaukee Iron Head Coach Gary Compton. "This just goes to show you the quality of players we're putting on the field here in Milwaukee."
Harris started as a defensive linemen for the Milwaukee Iron of the arenafootball2 league this season before signing with the Jets. Harris was at the Jets' rookie mini-camp last weekend. Harris, a 6-3, 287-pounder out of Western New Mexico, doubles as a long snapper, which enhances his chances of realistically making the team. He was signed by Carolina last season but waived before training camp. Harris signed with the Iron after working out for the Packers in Green Bay.
The Iron are on the road this week in Peoria, Illinois, taking on the Pirates. That game has been moved to a 7:00 start. it was originally scheduled to begin at 3:00. That game can be seen live on Time Warner Sports 32. The Iron return home Friday, May 15 against Tulsa. Kickoff is at 7:05 at the Bradley Center. Tickets are available at mkeiron.com.
