
Iron Claim Second Home Win

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Milwaukee Iron grabbed their second straight home win in impressive fashion defeating the Quad City Steamwheelers, 60-41, at the Bradley Center Friday night. With the win, the Iron improve to 5-7 on the season, while the Steamwheelers drop to 4-8.
QB Todd Hammel passed for 143 yards and five touchdowns, while WR Scott Burnoski caught eight passes for 65 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Iron, who dominated play throughout the game.
Quad City's Jesse Schmidt and Brian Jackson each finished with nine catches and two touchdowns. Schmidt finished with 109 yards, while Jackson added 101. QC quarterback Brian Zbydniewski went 30-for-53 in the game with 331 yards and five touchdowns.
The Iron grabbed a quick 14-7 lead in the first quarter as Hammel connected on a 25-yard pass to WR Bryan Pray for the Iron's first score of the night. DS Laron Ragsdale returned his third interception of the season 50 yards for the Iron's second touchdown and a 14-0 Milwaukee advantage. Jackson put the Steamwheelers on the scoreboard for the first time at the 2:48 mark off a 9-yard touchdown pass from Zbydniewski.
As the teams went back and forth in scoring to start the second quarter, Quad City edged closer and came within seven points, 28-21, with 2:19 left in the quarter. A 13-0 run by the Iron pushed their lead to 41-21 going into halftime.
Quad City sparked another comeback in the third quarter outscoring Milwaukee, 13-6, but with two touchdowns in the fourth the Iron sealed the win, 60-41.
The Milwaukee Iron will be back in action on Friday, June 26 against the Green Bay Blizzard at 7:05 p.m. in the Bradley Center.
