Iowa Chops to broadcast games on ESPN Radio 1700 The Champ

DES MOINES, IA - (September 12, 2008) - Iowa Chops President Steve Nitzel announced today that the Iowa Chops Hockey Club have entered into an agreement with The Citadel Broadcasting Group in Des Moines. Under the agreement, all 2008-09 Iowa Chops regular season and playoff games will be carried live on ESPN Radio... 1700 THE CHAMP. In addition, ESPN Radio... 1700 THE CHAMP will carry the Chops Radio Hour Show live on Monday nights. Alex "Cheeks" Kyrias will handle play-by-play duties for all games and serve as host of the Iowa Chops Radio Hour.

The Iowa Chops broadcasts hope to significantly enhance the local programming for the station, which is still in its first year of the sports radio format. On February 25, 2008, the station re-launched as 'ESPN Radio... 1700 THE CHAMP,' creating the second sports talk station in the Des Moines market. "We are proud to be an important part of the local programming for The Citadel Broadcasting Group," says Nitzel. "We hope it will allow us to reach across demographic lines by working with Citadel's diverse family of stations, and significantly increase the Iowa Chops fan base throughout the Des Moines area and state of Iowa."
