
Iowa Bowl Trophy Stays in Cedar Rapids as Titans Defeat Barnstormers 46-33

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Titans (9-4) earned their second straight Iowa Bowl victory as they downed the Iowa Barnstormers (4-7) 46-33 on Saturday night.
The Titans fired out quick in the first half, outscoring Iowa 36-9 by halftime. Rookie quarterback Dylan Favre paced the Cedar Rapids offense 16 of 28 passes for 159 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
All-pro quarterback Donovan Porterie and former University of Northern Iowa- Panther Brion Carnes led a dual-threat passing attack for the Barnstormers. Carnes led in passing, completing 14 of 25 passes for 172 yards and four touchdowns. Porteries added six completions (11 attempts) for 85 yards and one touchdown.
DeJay Lester, signed by the Titans earlier this week, led the team in receiving, catching six passes for 68 yards and one touchdown. Charles Watkins was the only other Cedar Rapids receiver to catch a touchdown, hauling in seven receptions for 56 yards.
Former Titan and future IFL Hall of Famer Bryan Pray led the Barnstormers in receiving, hauling in five receptions for 99 yards and two touchdowns.
Dawan Scott, who switched to running back after originally starting the season at wide receiver, added 81 rushing yards and one touchdown on 17 carries. Favre notched another touchdown on the ground.
The Titans were anchored on defense by defensive back and former Indiana Hoosier Tim Bennett. Bennett recorded seven tackles and two turnovers (one interception and one fumble recovery) while adding a pair of pass breakups.
Defensively, the return of linebacker Javicz Jones proved helpful for the Barnstormers as he made a team-high 11 stops and two tackles for loss. Defensive James Caine was the lone Barnstormer to record an interception on the night.
Cedar Rapids has the next week off as they prepare to travel to Des Moines on Saturday, June 4 to take on the Barnstormers for their second regular season matchup. The Titans will return home on Saturday, June 11 to take on the Billings Wolves in the 2016 regular season finale.
